📦 Unboxing & Build Quality
Unboxing the X98H Pro reveals an impressive port selection that you rarely find on TV boxes in this price range (~$30–$35):
Port Selection: It features 2x HDMI ports (In / Out), 3x USB ports, a Gigabit LAN (Ethernet) port, an optical audio output (SPDIF), AV output, and a MicroSD card slot.
Included Accessories: The box comes with a standard IR remote control, power adapter, and an HDMI cable.
⚡ Technical Specifications
Processor: Allwinner H618 (Cortex-A53, ARM Mali-G31 GPU)
Memory & Storage: 4 GB DDR4X RAM + 64 GB internal storage
Networking: Dual-Band 5GHz Wi-Fi + 1 Gbps (Gigabit) Ethernet Port
Operating System: Android 12 (Mobile OS build)
🚀 Performance & Real-World Tests
1. Gigabit Ethernet & 4K YouTube Streaming 🟢
During the speed test, the box clocked in at an incredible ~566 Mbps download speed. Because of this stable connection, streaming 4K video on YouTube and SmartTube ran smoothly with 0 dropped frames.
2. Kodi & Massive Torrent Streaming 🟢
Testing a massive 27 GB 4K movie file via Kodi (Elementum add-on) yielded impressive results. The box pre-buffered quickly and played the high-bitrate file without major playback stutters.
3. Retro & Android Gaming 🟡
Bluetooth gamepad pairing was fast and effortless.
Retro emulation via RetroArch (SEGA / Genesis games like Battletoads) worked flawlessly.
Light Android games like Beach Buggy Racing ran smoothly, though heavy 3D titles like Rush Rally 3 required lowering graphics settings to low for playable frame rates.
4. Thermals & Overheating Risk 🔴
During heavy testing, the CPU temperature reached 85–90°C. If you plan to stream heavy 4K torrents or play games for long sessions, using an external USB cooling fan is strongly recommended.
5. Lack of DRM Certificates (Netflix) 🔴
Like most budget Chinese TV boxes, this unit lacks official Google and Netflix certifications. Netflix will only play in standard definition (SD) and requires air-mouse navigation.
